2009-Oct-19: Slowbreakers 1-1 at 1st Annual Cincinnati Halloween Classic Lacrosse Tournament
Good morning Slowbreakers!
It may be a little slower morning for some than others, but I didn't see any broken bones or ambulances, so I think we did OK. Congratulations to everyone who helped kick off the inaugural games for the Cincinnati Slowbreakers! I look forward to the Halloween Classic becoming an annual event and growing to include more teams in the future. Overall, a very successful first effort and a perfect day for Lax!
To recap for those who were unable to participate this weekend: the team gelled quickly and there was surprisingly good ball movement, great goalie play (Kurt and Greg), defensive play (Andy, Tom and Mike) and we did well at face offs (Bob Quigley). We hung well with a competitive Columbus team that has been together for a while and traveled very well. We ended up losing the first game against Columbus 5-3, but roared back in the second game vs. Dayton winning 9-3 (?). Great job by the officials (thanks Dave and....?) and thanks to everyone who brought food to grill and share. Special thanks to John Kennedy and the Wyoming Slowbreaker contingent for helping coordinate the fields and getting them set up for the games.
I will stay in touch, keep an eye on your emails for future Slowbreakers events!
Gregg
